Why Counterpoint is my Favorite Club at Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë
by Wanetta O.
Music has always been a huge part of my life. Throughout my entire academic career, I’ve been deeply involved in music organizations, which give me a strong support system and community outside of classes. When I was applying to colleges, I knew that joining a music organization — especially one focused on singing — was a priority!
I discovered — Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë’s oldest female and nonbinary-inclusive acapella group — at the FAIR(opens in new window) during my freshman year, and I met wonderful people who shared my passion for singing and creating music with friends. Their stories about performing and competing with like-minded individuals encouraged me to audition, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made in college!
With Counterpoint, I've had the ability to experience many incredible opportunities and build such a strong community at Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë. Whether it be competing at the ICCA Semifinals in Buffalo, NY, last spring or singing and preparing for our annual benefit concert, , the memories I’ve made with Counterpoint are truly my favorite college memories. Over the years, the club has undergone many changes, continuously growing and evolving while perfecting our craft and having the best time together.
As a junior, I'm now more involved in the group and currently serve as vice president, and it’s truly rewarding to see how our group grows each year. I'm always excited to head to rehearsals, eager to catch up with fellow members and ready to dive into the new music we're learning. Being part of Counterpoint has definitely shaped my college experience, and I wouldn’t be who I am without it. I'm excited for the future of Counterpoint and can't wait to see how we'll continue to grow during my remaining time at Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë!
