GRE Information
The GRE is often required as part of a student’s application for graduate training programs in programs ranging from traditional Ph.D. programs (i.e. Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology or Chemistry) to Masters level programs (i.e. Genetic Counseling or Health Care Policy and Management) . The General Test measures verbal and quantitative reasoning as well as critical thinking and writing skills. Most programs only require the General Test, but some programs also require a GRE Subject Test as well. Check with each school’s individual program websites for requirements.
While the GRE is part of the total application, it is still a key factor in graduate admissions and should be taken seriously. Please see Dr. Amanda Willard for more information on the overall graduate admissions process.
