Federal Employment for People With and Without Disabilities

  • This workshop will provide information about the benefits of working for the federal government and the advantages they offer for students with disabilities as well as pathways to employment for students with disabilities.

  • Neurodiversity Advocate Mark Oldland draws upon his unique life experience as a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, professional in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and emerging artist to speak about the broad spectrum of abilities that the Neurodivergent population has to offer.

Integrate Information Session
September 25th, 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. ET
  • Integrate is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to educate and assist companies in becoming more neuroinclusive by helping them identify, recruit, and retain autistic and/or neurodivergent talent. Integrate works with clients who are Fortune 500 companies in different fields nationwide. During this 30-minute session, Integrate will: 
  • Review the recruiting services they provide for autistic and/or -neurodivergent candidates
  • Preview their annual corporate networking program, Employer Connect

STUDENT-EMPLOYER CONNECT EVENTS

What: A networking opportunity for students and employers to connect. These events promote one-on-one conversations in a casual, flexible, and reduced-barrier environment. A recharge room (a low-sensory room) and communication badges are available for all attendees.

1:1 Student Employer Connect Event

  • By participating in this event, you will: 
    • Build many professional connections with recruiters and other beneficial professional contacts
    • Practice talking in a professional setting about yourself, your experience, your strengths, and your interests
    • Gain experience with talking to employers about company culture and DEAIB initiatives
  • This a unique low-sensory opportunity for students to meet with employers! Each student attendee will get their own room where they will talk 1-on-1 with employers to share their experiences, career goals, and interests/hobbies. Employers are invited to share information about the company, job & internship opportunities, and diversity and inclusion efforts. Employers will receive a resume book of all attendees.

What: 1-hour block of time dedicated to work on professional development tasks (i.e., applying for jobs, preparing for interviews, updating LinkedIn profile, etc.,) alongside a career consultant and your peers

RECHARGE
ROOMS

What: A Recharge Room is a reduced sensory space where any student can go to rest, relax, and refresh during an event. Fidget objects, earplugs, and coloring pages are made available. A staff member may also be available to talk and provide words of encouragement.
