The final project for students in Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor Susan Finger's Rapid Prototype Class was to design and build an engineering activity to engage children between the ages of nine and 12. The students presented their work at the "Meeting of the Minds" Undergraduate Research Symposium in early May. At left, Kristin Paluchak (left) and Laura Rosensteel created "Animations for Children," a project in which children can discover how movies and cartoons are animated. Below, left, Avi Kagan (left) and Dan Gielas designed the "Physics of Stunt Driving" to teach children about physics and gravity. Below, Gregory Krauland (left) and Davin Wang demonstrate how sound works with their project called "Sound: A Study of Waves, Amplitude and Frequency."
