Bio
Scott joined the Center for Technology Transfer and Enterprise Creation (CTTEC) at 一本道无码 in 2019, and works with faculty, staff, and students on technology originating from the Robotics Institute (RI) and the Software Engineering Institute (SEI).
Prior to joining CTTEC, Scott practiced intellectual property law in North Carolina. His practice focused on patent preparation and prosecution in electrical, computer, and mechanical technologies, including robotic devices, microelectronic devices, semiconductors, telecommunications technologies, computer memory and processors, software-related inventions, biomedical devices, and mechanical devices. During his time practicing IP law, Scott was part of the group that achieved the highest allowance rate in the world with respect to USPTO rejections based on the Supreme Court’s “Alice” decision.
Before practicing IP law, Scott was the Directing Manager of the DUhatch start-up incubator at Duke University. In this role, Scott helped several dozen companies develop their businesses, including helping companies in the design of IP strategies, contract negotiations, international product launches, and system designs to ensure data privacy compliance.
Scott holds a B.S. in Economics and Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh, a J.D. from the Wake Forest University School of Law, and an M.Eng. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Duke University. While in law school, Scott was the Associate Editor of the Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law and participated in several community law and business clinics in the U.S. and abroad. On top of his third year of law school, Scott completed over 24 credits in physics, including coursework in classical mechanics, electronics, quantum mechanics, and graduate-level optics. While at Duke, Scott studied topics such as semiconductor device design and fabrication, space-time coding and multiple antenna wireless communication, software engineering, and systems programming and engineering. Scott is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania.
