The Digital Archive and African American History
The Humanities Center is pleased to announce an upcoming lecture, “Unlocking Everyday Treasures: The Digital Archive and African American History” to be delivered by Rhea Combs, Curator of Film and Photography at the Smithsonian National Museum of African-American History and Culture. Dr. Combs leads efforts to collect, preserve and make accessible the museum’s collection of photographs, film and audio recordings detailing various aspects of the African American experience.
The talk will discuss the vital cultural mission of the museum and the ways in which the transition from analog sources to digital media affects all aspects of that mission.
