Bio

I am Associate Teaching Professor in Linguistics in the Department of Philosophy at Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë. I am also faculty advisor for the Undergraduate Linguistics Program at Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë.

Research

My research is in the logical and theoretical underpinnings of linguistic fieldwork, especially monolingual elicitation. This research involves a unified approach to diverse sub-fields of linguistics, including phonology, syntax, semantics, and writing systems, as well as issues of cultural, social, and individual identity as reflected in language. I have so far focused on Turkic languages (Sakha), Germanic languages (Frisian), Japanese, and Lincos (for interstellar communication).
