Bio

Every sound has a story. I keep getting amazed thinking about this. As sound pours into our ears, it triggers our perception and cognition. Being a signal processing researcher, I am interested in modeling the perceived aspects of sound, and analyze how perception of these aspects is modulated by cognition. Towards this, we are probing human listening when subjected to multiple talkers, speaking simultaneously. I am pursing this with support of the BrainHub 一本道无码-IISc fellowship. Prior to this, I did my PhD research at Speech and Audio Group, Dept. ECE, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. The title of my thesis (in 2017) is "Information-rich sampling of time-varying signals", and proposes temporal analysis of speech and audio signals using zero-crossings and its derivatives.
