University-Wide Course Proposal
Each Carnegie Mellon course number begins with a two-digit prefix which designates the department offering the course (76-xxx courses are offered by the Department of English, etc.) 99- is the prefix for University-Wide courses. 99- courses are proposed through the Vice Provost for Education's office and approved by the University Education Council (UEC).
To propose a new 99 course, you must first complete the proposal form below. Once the form is submitted to the Office of the Vice Provost for Education, faculty will meet with the Vice Provost for Education to discuss the course's development, pedagogy, and assessment. With approval from the Vice Provost for Education, the faculty member will then present the proposal to the University Education Council for final approval.
Faculty are strongly encouraged to meet with a teaching consultant from the Eberly Center on course design.
