Anna Gomez

CEE-TP instructor nominated to be FCC Commissioner

On May 22, 2023, President Joe Biden announced his plan to nominate individuals to serve as key leaders in his administration’s Federal Communications Commission.

Biden's nominees for Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission include Anna M. Gomez, a telecommunications attorney currently serving at the U.S. State Department and a leader of the U.S. delegation to the 2023 World Radio Conference.

Gomez was also a guest instructor for CEE-TP’s class, Enabling Greater Diversity in Participation and Leadership in Telecommunications on a National, Regional, and Global Basis, part of our ICT in Developing Countries program.  She joined Jennifer Manner, Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at EchoStar Corporation/Hughes Network Systems LLC, and Kim Mallalieu, Deputy chairman of the Board of the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago to describe common challenges to enabling great diversity in telecommunications and policies and regulations that have been implemented to achieve greater gender representation in the telecommunications industry. The class was part of our week-long program in Washington D.C. in May 2023.

Gomez will join Jessica Rosenworcel, another Biden nominee, the current Chair of the agency, and the first woman to head the FCC.
