S3 Release Features Course Reservations by Major
By ES Communications
The S3 release on March 5 includes the addition of student major as one of the options departments can select when entering course-section reservations. This much-anticipated enhancement to the registration process was supported by the Academic Policies and Practices (APP) group and the University Education Council (UEC).
Previously, academic departments could reserve course-section seats by college, department and class level. The addition of major will assist in mitigating students being placed on wait lists unnecessarily. Reservations may be set in S3 three weeks prior to the beginning of registration. Detailed course reservation instructions may be found at www.cmu.edu/es/s3-project/docs/course-reservation-guide.pdf.
Today's release also included the following:
- Streamlined process of adding instructors to course-sections and then provisioning S3 access
- Improved email functionality when an S3 user is sending emails to a large number of recipients
- Continued improvements to the Greek Roster screen
- Added ability to have designated academic milestones displayed on a student's transcript as Academic Achievements (stay tuned for more information about this feature next month)
For additional details about the improvements listed above, view the release summary (pdf).
