My Plaid Student is a secure website operated by Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë. My Plaid Student gives authorized users, such as parents or other family members, access to certain information about a student.

When students complete the authorization process, they can select what categories of information their invited user may access. At this time, information available through My Plaid Student is access to student account invoices and student account activity, the ability to make student account payments, and the ability to request enrollment verifications, as well as the ability to view grades, QPA, semester schedule, and financial aid award letter. Other categories of information may be available through My Plaid Student in the future. As new features become available in My Plaid Student, the student can update the areas of information available to the user.

The student grants access to the user (typically a family member of the student) via Student Information Online (SIO). The invited user will receive a guest invitation email with a link to begin the My Plaid Student registration and log-in process. After registering with Cirrus Identity Service, the user can then log in to My Plaid Student to view the student's information, as authorized by the student.

Registration with Cirrus Identity Service is needed to access My Plaid Student. The service uses certain social providers (Google or LinkedIn) to offer protected access to My Plaid Student. These providers allow users to self-register for the My Plaid Student log in.

There are multiple apps that can be used for 2FA, including Duo Mobile, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and Authy. These apps can be downloaded through your smart device's app store.

If you are using a computer to log into MPS, first log into MPS using your Friends of Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë login. When you see the QR code, open your 2FA app on your smartphone or tablet and scan the QR code (Note: do not use your smartphone’s camera app to scan the QR code) or click "Show Secret Key" to manually enter the code into your 2FA app. After following the setup prompts in your 2FA app, you will need to input the provided 6-digit number into the box on the MPS login screen and click "Proceed."

For each future MPS login, you will need to open the 2FA app on your phone that you used during the first login to get a new 6-digit code from the "Third-Party" entry in your 2FA app. We recommend keeping your 2FA app on your smart device. 

If you receive an error message for an invalid code entry on the QR code screen, there may be an issue with your account setup in your 2FA app. Try setting up the account again in your 2FA app by rescanning the QR code. 1. To enroll in 2FA using a computer, you will need to have installed.
2. Once Chrome is installed, you will need to open the Chrome browser and enable the :
   1. Navigate to the app and select “Add to Chrome.”
   2. Once the App is installed, you can access Google Authenticator by clicking the puzzle piece icon in the upper right corner of your Chrome browser.
3. Open My Plaid Student (MPS) and login using your Friends of Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë account. You will be prompted to scan a QR code or select the "Show Secret Key" button. 
4. Open the Authenticator extension in your browser, click on the pencil icon, click on the “+” sign, select “Manual Entry,” paste the six-digit code and submit.
5. The Authenticator application will now generate a single-use token you can type into your MPS Friends of Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë login in screen each time you login.

Those with valid, active Carnegie Mellon Andrew email accounts may register for My Plaid Student by selecting the 'Use Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë AndrewID' button on the registration page, instead of registering with Cirrus Identity Service. The guest invitation email sent to the invited user will include a link to the registration page.

The invited user may begin the registration process from the beginning by clicking on the link in the invitation email. Please note that invitations expire 30 days after being sent. After 30 days, the invited user should ask the student to request a new invitation through Student Information Online (SIO). 

Carnegie Mellon does not have access to an individual's email or social provider account passwords.

Only the student can initiate a new invitation email for the user. In Student Information Online (SIO), the student can edit user access to remove authorization and then re-invite. This will trigger a new email to be sent to the My Plaid Student user.

Each student can grant access to My Plaid Student through their own SIO account. As the parent/family member completes the registration process for each invitation, it may be easier for future logins to register the same email account through Cirrus Identity for both invitations.

The parent or family member can create a Friends of Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë guest account or the parent/family member can establish a Google or LinkedIn account. Those who have a Carnegie Mellon Andrew email account may use that to access MPS, as well.

By selecting 'Friends of Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë', an invited user will be able to create a 'Friends of Ò»±¾µÀÎÞÂë' guest account and use it to register for My Plaid Student. For best results, the account creation and registration process  should be completed at the same time and in the same browser.
