Research

During the past 15 years, I have established an active research program in the areas of global and socio-cultural IS utilization and success, strategic fit and IS transfer to Asia, IS risk management and governance, and IS education. My research program adopts a multi-disciplinary approach to provide theoretical, methodological and empirical evidence on various aspects of technology adoption in various cultural environments. I do not believe in ‘One size fits all’ approach in IT adoption. I believe that in order to successfully adopt technology and establish the right IT strategy; one has to understand the fit between technology and local context. My PhD work involved an investigation of the appropriateness of internet technology for inter-firm communication in the Thai tourism industry. Further example projects include projects on social media adoption in work contexts in Thailand and Australia; ERP post implementation in China; Social media adoption among micro enterprises in the Indonesian retail industry; Success factors of Accounting Information Systems adoption in Australia; Big data capabilities and the success of IFRS 9 implementation; IT governance and risk management. I have secured research grants totaling over $250,000 Australian Dollars (AUD).

I am the author of over 50 international peer-reviewed journal, conference and book publications. My research has appeared in the Journal of Global of Information Technology Management; International Journal of Information Technology and Management; Studies in Higher Education; International Journal of Educational Management and in leading IS conferences - AMCIS, ECIS, PACIS, ACIS, HICSS, IFIP. Furthermore, I have over 330 citations and 10 H index on the Google Scholar Citation index. I have experiences in supervising PhD, Master and Bachelor research students to completion in the IS domain and was invited to be PhD thesis examiner over 10 thesis worldwide.
