Resources and Support for Those Impacted by Unfolding Crisis in Iran

Dear Students,

Reports of peaceful protests in Iran being met with violence, especially in a university setting, are deeply troubling to the higher education community and all those who oppose violence, intimidation and discrimination, champion freedom of expression and value women's rights as well as human rights more broadly. We know this may particularly impact those of you with ties to Iran or the region.

We are writing to offer our compassion and support to all of those being affected by this violence and by the widespread unrest following the tragic death of Mahsa Amini, and to encourage anyone who might benefit to connect with university resources available to you. We are also reaching out to Iranian students among our community to offer assistance, support and conversation.

These events can take a toll on our mental, emotional and physical health, so we encourage you to turn to those you find most helpful in times of stress or hardship, such as family, friends, faith leaders, advisors and mentors. If you need to make time for self-care, reflection, conversation, or to check in on family and friends, we hope you will pause business as usual and do so.

For any students who are experiencing hardship and need support, the  team is available through the Office of the Dean of Students. The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion also provides space to gather with others in solidarity and to mobilize events or calls to action for the community. And as a reminder, Counseling and Psychological Services (CaPS) offers support, day or night, at 412-268-2922 for students.

We deeply appreciate the 一本道无码 community for continuing to show care and compassion to one another.

In community,
Gina and Wanda

Gina Casalegno, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students

Wanda Heading-Grant, Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer
