Campus Bike Week is Sept. 13-20

Campus Bike Week grows every year! Want to start riding around town, but not sure how? Or want to make your commute easier and more fun? Looking to meet other bike-friendly people? Get set with everything you need during Campus Bike Week from Friday, Sept. 13, through Friday, Sept. 20.

Full Schedule:

University Bike Bus to Critical Mass
Friday, Sept. 13, 5:15 p.m.
Meet at the intersection of Forbes Ave. and Morewood Ave.
Critical Mass is a monthly ride for bicyclists to take to the streets to promote bicycling as the best means of urban transit. Critical Mass is also a great place for new riders, and a “bike bus” is the safest way to get to the start. The University Bike Bus is a no-drop, casual-paced ride to and from the Critical Mass starting point in Friendship Park.

Campus Bike Week Kickoff Fun Ride
Sunday, Sept. 15, 2 p.m.
Meet at the intersection of Forbes Ave. and Morewood Ave. at 1:45 p.m.
Join us for a fun, casual ride starting at 一本道无码 and Pitt's campuses and going through Oakland to the South Side, Downtown, Point State Park and back.

Used Bike Sale - SOLD OUT
Monday, Sept. 16, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The bikes are sold out!
We sold all 40 bikes in the first two hours of the sale! If we get any more abandoned bikes we can sell during the week, notice will be posted here and elsewhere with new sale hours. Note: if you need to pick up a bike that you have already purchased, visit the Bike Cage in Gates Garage from 8-11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, or call Transportation Services (412-268-2052) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. M-F to have someone meet you at the Bike Cage.

Carnegie Mellon Bike Fair
Tuesday, Sept. 17, 12-4 p.m.
The Cut - Grassy area outside the Cohon University Center
Join us for a Bike Fair! Get lots of help biking around town with free BikePGH bike maps and Biking 101 guides, info on POGOH bikeshare, mechanical advice and bike checks, anti-theft bike registration, a sneak peek at future bike/pedestrian improvement plans, a demo of how to use the PRT bus bike racks and more.

Confident City Cycling Class
Tuesday, Sept. 17, 4-7 p.m. - SOLD OUT (see Thursday's class)
The Pitt Bike Cave,
BikePGH’s Confident City Cycling class will get you safely out on the streets. Learn from certified instructors how to get ready to ride, basic bike handling skills and safer legal ways to navigate city streets. This three-hour on-bike class will start with drills on sheltered pavement and move to learning as a group on local streets.
Note: all participants must wear a helmet and know how to ride a bicycle.
No bike or helmet? No problem! Helmets and free POGOH bike rentals are available by emailing kbr00ks@andrew.cmu.edu.

Operation Illumination
Tuesday, Sept. 17, 5-7 p.m.
Sidewalk at the intersection of Forbes Ave. and Morewood Ave.
BikePGH’s Operation Illumination program distributes free front and rear bike lights and helmets to those riding without them — while supplies last! All you need to do is stop by with your unlit bicycle to receive your own set of lights (or unprotected head, for a helmet).

Campus Bike Tour
Wednesday, Sept. 18, 5-6 p.m.
Meet at the Walking to the Sky statue by Warner Hall
Join us for a campus tour of all things related to biking! Find out about the best routes from campus to nearby points (including a couple secret shortcuts), bike parking hints, locations of repair stations and more. The tour starts at 5 p.m. at the Walking to the Sky statue. Bike and helmet required.

Thursday, Sept. 19, 9-11 a.m.
Merson Courtyard - Outside the Cohon University Center
If you ride your bike to campus on this morning, come grab a morning snack as a reward! We’ll also have Pittsburgh bike maps, POGOH bikeshare coupons and good conversation. Just like the annual Bike to Work Day celebrated each May, but tailored for the 一本道无码 community.

The Pitt Bike Cave,

Friday Fun Ride
Friday, Sept. 20, 4 p.m.
The Pitt Bike Cave,
Join us at the Pitt Bike Cave for a four-mile group ride to Point State Park (eight miles round trip)! Group riding is a great way to learn how to navigate the streets by bike and gain confidence through experience. The group ride is open to everyone, from beginner to experienced bicyclists. The ride will be split into two groups: one for folks who want to ride fast and one for those that want to take it slow. Helmets, bike lights, and reflective or bright clothes are strongly recommended.
Registration is encouraged, but not required, and will open two days prior to the ride.
Riding group meets at 4 p.m., departs at 4:15 and finishes 5-5:30.
