Creating Filters in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) at 一本道无码
In GA4, most 一本道无码 websites are grouped into properties or subproperties by college, department, or functional area. To analyze specific areas of your site, like a particular office or program, you’ll need to apply filters to focus on just the data that matters to you.
For example, if you're only interested in data for the Ombudsperson’s Office, you'll want to filter for pages that include /ombudsperson/
.
Below are three common ways to filter data in GA4.
Method 1: Use the “Add Filter” Button (Quick View Filtering)
- 1. In any report, click Add Filter (top-left, just below the report title).
- A panel will open on the right.
- Select Page path + query string as the dimension.
- Use a “contains” filter and enter the URI portion of the site you care about (e.g.,
/ombudsperson/
).
*Note: Filters added this way are temporary. If you leave the report, your filter will disappear. GA4 doesn’t let you save filters in standard reports.
Method 2: Search by Page Path in Reports
This method depends on the type of report you're viewing:
Engagement Reports
- These already display Page path + query string by default.
- Use the search bar directly above the table to enter the URI (e.g.,
/ombudsperson/
).
Acquisition Reports
- Click the blue + button above the table to add a dimension.
- Add Page path + query string.
- Then use the search bar to narrow the results to your desired URI.
🔍 Tip: This method is quick and helpful for one-off checks, but like Method 1, filters reset when you navigate away.
Method 3: Custom Report with Filters (Saved Views)
If you regularly analyze the same set of pages, this is the most sustainable method.
- 1. Open any standard report.
- 2. Click the pencil icon (top-right, near the date range) to customize the report.
- 3. Select Add filter from the right-hand panel.
- 4. Use Page path + query string and the “contains” operator to filter by URI or subdomain.
- 5. Save your changes as a new custom report. Give it a clear name (e.g., "Ombudsperson Traffic Acquisition").
Tip: This is the only method that allows you to save a filtered view for recurring use, provided your GA4 access level allows it.
Additional Filtering Tips for GA4
- Always filter using URIs, not full URLs. For example, use
/ombudsperson/
rather than/ombudsperson/
. - For subdomains (e.g.,
metals.hcii.cmu.edu
), you may need to use the Page location dimension instead of Page path. - Double-check your date range—filters won’t work as expected if the date range doesn’t include enough traffic.
