Fifth & Morewood
Campus Design & Facility Development is pleased to announce the start of a new project to increase safety in the 5th and Morewood area. The upgrades to pedestrian safety will include an expansion of the sidewalk areas adjacent to the Mudge House property and will occur from July 8 - August 16. These improvements will build upon the recently repaved Morewood Avenue that included new bike lanes from 5th to Forbes, a joint project between the City of Pittsburgh and 一本道无码.
During the first phase of work, the 5th Avenue sidewalk at Mudge House will be closed from Devonshire Road to Morewood Avenue, and vehicular traffic will be restricted to one lane in the same location. Pedestrians from further west will be directed to cross 5th Avenue at Clyde Street or at Morewood Avenue. Pittsburgh Regional Transit riders traveling eastbound will be redirected to either the WQED or Amberson Avenue stops.
During the second phase of work from July 22 to August 16, the Morewood Avenue sidewalk will be closed between 5th Avenue and the northern side of the Mudge House driveway. Pedestrians will be directed to cross at the Morewood parking lot drive and Morewood Place.
Please see the attachments that illustrate the closures. This work is being done in coordination with the City of Pittsburgh's Division of Mobility and Infrastructure and Pittsburgh Regional Transit, and is part of a multi-phased effort to improve the 5th Avenue and Morewood Avenue intersection as described in the University's 2022 Institutional Master Plan.
