Bio

Alan Thomas Kohler is an accomplished communication specialist, instructor, and educational leader with 22+ years of experience in higher ed, entrepreneurship, and non-profit management. He holds an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Massachusetts Boston and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching from the University of Arizona. His past and current work is in professional and technical communication, curriculum design and assessment, and second language writing, and his research and professional interests include generative AI in education, UX design approaches to writing instruction, higher ed and program administration, and teacher training & development.
