Bio
Julie Pal-Agrawal has an undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences from Johns Hopkins University, a Masters in English language and literature from Georgetown University, and a PhD in English language and literature from the University of Virginia.
She has over 25 years of experience teaching critical thinking, literature, advertising, and composition. Her previous experiences include helping non-profits use classic storytelling tropes to advance their organizations missions. She has also spent fifteen years working with orphans in India to understand how record keeping and journaling allow at-risk youth in India to express and advocate for themselves. As a recipient of the Provost‘s Inclusive Teaching Fellowship, Julie is studying how self-reflection in research classes may increase students’ sense of belonging in their research processes. Julie also volunteers at local high schools to teach media literacy classes to empower at-risk youth to become more critical of their surroundings.
