Living and learning in the city of Pittsburgh is a shared experience for every INI student.

Welcome to Pittsburgh

From to Pittsburgh is making a name for itself. Major companies like Google, Uber and Facebook have opened offices here, and the city is also home to a new, compelling model for boosting startup cultures in the U.S.

Mighty. Beautiful. Versatile.

Scotty Dog Mascot

Plaid to the Bone

Many of Carnegie Mellon’s embrace the Scottish heritage of the university’s founder, Andrew Carnegie. Our official school color is the Carnegie clan Tartan plaid consisting of blue, red, green and yellow. Attend a university event, and you may be greeted by our official mascot, the Scottish Terrier!

INI Takes the Fence

The Fence

The unofficial university billboard,  is painted between midnight and sunrise by students who then stand guard as long as they want their message to stay. INI took the Fence in 2015 to celebrate our 25th anniversary!

Fun Fact: The original Fence was once the "most painted object in the world" until it collapsed and was replaced by a steel-concrete fence.

Buggy Race

Buggy Sweepstakes

A Spring Carnival highlight, students race "," often reaching up to 35 mph. Student groups design and build the aerodynamic cylinders — "pushmobiles," as they were called when the tradition started in 1920.

CUC Gym

Wellness & Fitness Facilities

The Cohon University Center offers a variety of free wellness and fitness facilities, including a two-story, state-of-the-art fitness center, studio space for cycling, yoga, dance, and GroupX classes, a gym, squash and racquetball courts, and lane and diving pools.

Campus Outdoors At Night

Life on Campus

The Carnegie Mellon experience doesn’t end inside the classroom. As a Tartan, you’ll meet and learn from a geographically and academically diverse group of people during your time as a graduate student. From the Graduate Student Lounge to Legacy Plaza, there are many places on campus to hang out, meet friends or enjoy a meal!

Holi Celebration

Holi Festival

In the midst of all the booths, rides, and Buggy races of Spring Carnival, the 一本道无码 community participates in the Indian festival of colors known as Holi. The collective event is packed with plenty of play, performances from South Asian groups around campus and a sense of togetherness.

Community Service

Community Service

Civic engagement is an important part of campus life. Annual events include Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, Rise Against Hunger and Season of Giving collection drives. In 2017, the 一本道无码 community packaged over 125,000 meals for families in need at the Rise Against Hunger event.
