AI and Robotics Workshops at the Industry 4.0 Teacher Academy
By Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy
The Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy recently played a role in the , a professional development program designed to immerse educators in the latest advancements in manufacturing technologies. The Industry 4.0 Teacher Academy was held over three days at notable locations such as Mill 19 and organized by and the .
The event brought together teachers from across the region to explore how emerging technologies like AI, robotics, and automation are transforming the manufacturing landscape. Educators were guided on how to integrate them into their classrooms. The program included hands-on activities, industry panel discussions, and tours of advanced manufacturing facilities, including the and .
As part of our contribution, we showcased the Applied AI and Robotics course, featuring the powerful NVIDIA Jetson Nano. Participants had the opportunity to observe machine vision tools like Posenet in action, which provided a real-world example of how AI can be utilized in educational robotics. The session was capped off with an engaging robot soccer match, where educators controlled teleoperated robots.
The Industry 4.0 Teacher Academy was an invaluable experience for all involved, providing educators with the knowledge and resources needed to prepare their students for the future of manufacturing. We are proud to have been part of this initiative and look forward to continuing our work in empowering the next generation.
