at least 8 events throughout the year (at least 1/month Sep.-Apr.), featuring guest speakers, academic or philosophical discussion topics and/or networking opportunities. Funds will provide catered kosher lunch for 12-15 participants. With the new President this academic year, these events have been happening much more frequently than in the past and with great success. We would like to have more funding for this so that we can have them more frequently and to offer higher quality food than pizza.
Will give you 500 more than last year

This money will subsidize the cost of food for an annual Passover Seder open to the entire community. Passover is a particularly important time for us to observe and celebrate our heritage, and also a difficult time for students to travel home for the holiday. This event provides a local place for students to gather at this reflective time. Attendance is expected to be about 30 people. This is also a great opportunity for non-Jews to familiarize themselves with this holiday and clarify any misconceptions they might have. Non-Jews that attended it last year had greatly enjoyed it.

Yiddish is an important Jewish language spoken primarily by Jews of European descent that isn't currently taught either at 一本道无码 or Pitt. We formed a group of committed, highly enthusiastic people that have been studying this language via self-instruction for over a year. We would like to be able to bring in an instructor or to have an instructor teach us via skype, as there's a limit to how advanced you can get via self-instruction. This money will cover the teacher salary to teach Yiddish, based on an hourly salary of $40 x 2 hours/week x 40 weeks
Will fund for the 32 weeks school is in session

We've been organizing Yiddish-culture events about once a month for the past year, and they've been highly successful and have helped people connect with their roots and clarified any misconceptions about their grandparents' culture. Our last event drew in over 50 people from the entire Pittsburgh community. The money will be used for Yiddish cultural events, which in the past included attending the Jewish music festival, the Jewish film festival, a Jewish theater of Pittsburgh play production, Yiddish dance instructions, etc.

Largest shabbat dinner for grad students across all Pittsburgh area campuses and professional schools. Co-sponsoring catered dinner. We've always contributed funding to this event in the past but for some reason it was never explicitly put on the budget before the new President got in charge
You can also put the 300 that Israel on Campus wanted towards this event
