Football Team Collects More than $5,500 for Relief Effort
The Tartans recently recorded one of their most important victories without stepping onto the field. On Sept. 15, the day of their cancelled game with Bethany College, the Tartans traveled to local malls and shopping areas to collect monetary donations for the Disaster Relief Fund, established in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Wearing their game jerseys and using their helmets as money containers, the team collected $5,535.05.
"It really made me proud to be a part of this team and be associated with a group of players and coaches with such great moral and ethical principles," said junior tight end Scott Jubeck.
