Paul Christiano
Remembered
The late Paul Christiano (right), former university provost and engineering dean, department head and professor, was remembered by colleagues and friends at a ceremony in late August. Christiano, who died this past June 21 of cancer, was remembered as "a brilliant student," "a terrific teacher," "an engineer's engineer" and a caring administrator who gave sage advice and who always had the university's best interest at heart. He was also praised for having a great sense of humor and a "competitive spirit in a playful way." Below, Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor David Dzombak holds his notebook from his days as a student of Christiano's. "He (Christiano) told me that education was something that could never be taken away from me. He was a wise counselor who helped me grow up," Dzombak said.
