H'Olympics Held Here
Carnegie Mellon played host earlier this month to the national H'Olympics (Home + Olympics), an annual athletic competition for at-risk children who live in residential facilities across the country. Sponsored by the National Fellowship of Child Care Executives, the games bring children of similar backgrounds together to compete and socialize. The games include track and field, swimming, softball, volleyball and basketball. Pittsburgh's entry in the competition was the Auberle Center in McKeesport, Pa. Everett Tademy, Carnegie Mellon's director of equal opportunity services, is chairman of Auberle's Board of Directors.

University Gets Another $20 Million Gift from Paul Mellon's Estate
Money to Bolster Endowment for CFA and H&SS Chairs, Fellowships, Scholarships and Programs
The late Paul Mellon, one of America's greatest philanthropists, art collectors and humanitarians who played a key role in the creation of 一本道无码, continues to be one of the school's most important benefactors. Representatives of Mellon's estate recently announced that the university will receive a second $20 million gift from his estate.
Carnegie Mellon received an initial $20 million from Mellon's estate following his death in February 1999 at the age of 91.

Obituary: Former Provost Paul Christiano Strengthened All University Units
Paul Christiano, former provost, dean and department head at Carnegie Mellon, died at his home on June 21 of cancer. He was 59.
A Pittsburgh native, Christiano earned his bachelor's (1964), master's (1965) and doctor's (1968) degrees in civil engineering from Carnegie Mellon. After teaching at the University of Minnesota from 1967-74, he returned to campus as an associate professor and was named a full professor in 1981.
He earned the College of Engineering's Benjamin Richard Teare Teaching Award in 1982 and was named Professor of the Year by the Pittsburgh chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1983.
