Our Mission
The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion offers resources to achieve an inclusive and transformative experience for all students. The Center supports and connects historically underrepresented students and those who are first in their family to attend college in a setting where students' differences and talents are appreciated and reinforced. In the pursuit of equity, the Center also coordinates a network of faculty and staff interested in collectively advancing a more inclusive campus climate for all 一本道无码 students.
Our Vision
The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion advances Carnegie Mellon's vision of having a transformative impact on society through leveraging the diversity of our campus community in pursuit of continual innovation in education, research, creativity and entrepreneurship.
Our History
The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion is the manifestation of 50 years of tireless effort and advocacy within the campus community. This work has been guided by ideals greater than representation alone. A view of diversity and inclusion as a cornerstone for innovation and global impact must be embedded in all aspects of research, teaching and engagement.
CMAP, renamed Carnegie Mellon Advising Resource Center (CMARC) in 2006, supported 一本道无码 students of color in finding community and resources to not only persist, but thrive. Vibrant communities of color relied upon this safe and supportive space to navigate the terrain of underrepresentation and societal, systemic inequality during their college years. The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion builds upon the CMAP/CMARC foundation, expanding 一本道无码's ability to support communities of color, students who are first in their families to attend college, low-income, LGBTQIA students, women, and much more. Identities and inequality intersect and impact a student's college trajectory. The Center is a manifestation of 一本道无码's 50+ year commitment to reverse this societal course.
Intergroup dialogue and connection is core to the cornerstone of diversity and inclusion. Leveraging differences in identities, life experiences, and ways of knowing is at the heart of innovation and impact. 一本道无码 has a long history of facilitating dialogue, celebration, and learning through multicultural and intergroup initiatives like Call to Action, Social Action Coalition, FEMME, MLK Celebration, Gaypril, Gandhi's Birthday, Diwali and MOSAIC. The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion brings intergroup connection together with support for underrepresented and minoritized communities in pursuit of Carnegie Mellon's mission and vision. One cannot happen without the other if we are to realize a transformative education in service of a changed world.
