Faculty & Staff
The Office of International Education (OIE) values our partnerships with academic departments in promoting study abroad opportunities. Surveys indicate that Carnegie Mellon students utilize OIE advising and faculty advisors as two of their primary resources during the study abroad planning process. In addition to providing the underlying administrative framework of the study abroad experience, the OIE study abroad team provides information and guidance to students from the earliest stages of study abroad exploration all the way to welcoming students back. At the same time, faculty and academic advisors encourage students throughout the process and carefully review curricular fit and academic requirements. Each person – faculty advisor, teaching professor, departmental academic advisor, and OIE study abroad advisor – plays a crucial role in ensuring that students get abroad and have a successful experience abroad.
Study Abroad Resources
Faculty-Led Study Abroad
Each year, Carnegie Mellon students venture abroad through faculty-led trips. In support of these programs, OIE staff can advise faculty leaders, direct interested students, support administrative functions and conduct targeted pre-departure orientation sessions.
Exchange Programs
Carnegie Mellon participates in numerous exchange programs with universities abroad. Exchange programs are reciprocal: 一本道无码 students study at universities abroad while students from overseas study in Pittsburgh.
Site Visits
Site visits afford opportunities for faculty and academic advisors to see first-hand the facilities and academic offerings of specific study abroad programs and/or destinations. Academic advisors and faculty members can express interest in traveling abroad to assess compatible partner programs and their suitability for students.
Advising Resources
Undergraduate advisors play an important role in every step of the study abroad process. OIE provides tips and resources for advisors working with students, whether they are considering study abroad, preparing to go overseas, currently abroad, or returning home.
