Staying in Touch
It is important to remain in touch with the Office of International Education (OIE), your Study Abroad Advisor, and professors and advisors within your department. Many students also wish to share stories and photographs of their time abroad. This page provides resources for staying in touch while abroad.
Carnegie Mellon Contacts
OIE & Study Abroad
The Office of International Education (OIE) will communicate with study abroad students periodically to check-in, request information, report new university policies, and provide cultural adjustment advice. In addition, students may wish to reach out to study abroad advisors with various questions or concerns.
Department Contacts
Students who are abroad occasionally need to contact departmental representatives at Carnegie Mellon about approving course changes while overseas.
Share Your Experience
Tell Your Story
Want to share your experience abroad? We are collecting interviews and day-in-the-life stories of students abroad! Sharing your story gives students who are considering study abroad a glimpse into the experience and helps those who are preparing to travel a sense of what to expect. To share your story, email goabroad@andrew.cmu.edu.
Submit to Our Photo Contest
Each spring, we hold a photo contest for returned students. The winners and runners up will be featured on our website, social media, and future Study Abroad promotional materials. Returned students will be contacted in the spring (typically in March) with instructions about submitting their work.
Take Over Our Instagram
Each semester, students studying abroad are given the opportunity to take over the Study Abroad Instagram account and share their experiences. Instagram takeovers provide students who are currently abroad and those who are considering traveling abroad an exciting glimpse into life overseas. Email goabroad@andrew.cmu.edu or message us on to learn about doing your own takeover.
Please Note
By submitting photos and stories to goabroad@andrew.cmu.edu, the student agrees for OIE to use the material in electronic and print publications, credited to the student’s name.
