Academic Expectations
As Midshipmen, much will be asked of you and you will be held to the highest standards. Academics are no exception. You will be required to complete a number of military training courses through the Naval ROTC unit. Although classes differ from Marine and Navy options, the standard load is one course a semester. Topics range from Naval Weapons Systems to Naval and Marine Corps military history.
Midshipmen are required to attend 2 hours of tutoring per week while enrolled in Calculus and 2 hours per week for Physics. Students are required to maintain above a 2.5 term GPA. Those under this standard will be placed on academic warning or probation and are required to attend mandatory study hall hours.
NROTC also requires that you take a multitude of classes though your respective universities. Navy options are required to complete two semesters of Calculus and Calcus-based physics. Navy options must also complete two semesters of English, one World Culture/Regional Studies course, and one American Military History/National Security Policy course. Marine Options must complete two semesters of English and one American Military History/National Security Policy course. Nurse Options must complete two semesters of English and one World Culture/Regional Studies course.
