Bio
Aidan Beatty serves as Senior Academic Coordinator and Lecturer for the Department of History. In addition to teaching courses on Irish and British political and social history, he works closely with graduate students and the Director of Graduate Studies on programmatic and financial matters, advising, and professional development. He is also the point of contact for students who are interested in applying to the doctoral program, or who wish to enroll in the Department's Graduate Courses.
He received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 2015, and before coming to Carnegie Mellon, he taught at the University of Pittsburgh, Wayne State University and the University of Chicago. He is the author of the award-winning , and more recently has published (Manchester 2023). Dr. Beatty's most recent book - - was published with Pluto Press in September 2024. He is currently Vice-President of the American Conference for Irish Studies and will take over as President in 2025. To find out more, see his website .
