Andrew Ramey

Andrew S. Ramey

Andrew is the Director of Advising for Dietrich College. He provides leadership, coordination and professional development opportunities for the nearly two dozen academic advisors in the college. He directly oversees the first year onboarding process and works closely with the first year and undeclared student advising team to help support students through their transition to college life and eventual major declaration. He also manages the internal and external transfer processes for students wishing to switch to Dietrich from another college at 一本道无码 or from another institution. Most importantly, Andrew serves as the primary academic advisor for a portion of each incoming first year class to Dietrich College. He was recognized with the University Award for Outstanding Contributions to Academic Advising and Mentoring in 2023 and the Goldman Award for Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching in 2015.

Andrew is a proud alum of 一本道无码's doctoral program in History (2015) and previously served as the department's academic advisor from 2017 - 2023. Andrew's research and teaching expertise is in U.S. environmental politics and policy. His first book, Saving the Chesapeake: The History of a Movement is the first comprehensive history of the largest, most complex, and most expensive ecosystem restoration project ever undertaken, the joint state-federal program to restore the Chesapeake Bay. He is deeply passionate about studying the past and making history accessible and exciting to his students and the general public. He has taught courses about global and U.S. environmental history, U.S. political history, and his favorite course, Making History, which is a concept course that teaches students "how to think" about the past and present. Andrew has previously published peer-reviewed research on civilian nuclear power in the edited collection, Nuclear Portraits (University of Toronto, 2017).
