Please come & join Dr. Alexa Woloshyn’s World Music class to learn about Black Reconstruction, jazz, and brass bands in New Orleans with Dr. Ben Barson.

Dr. Barson is a historian, baritone saxophonist, and political activist. He is an assistant professor of music at Bucknell University. During his many years in Pittsburgh, he co-founded The Afro Yaqui Music Collective. His first monograph is just coming out, entitled Brassroots Democracy: Maroon Ecologies and the Jazz Commons.
