Performance Management FAQs
Who participates in the annual performance management process?
The annual performance management process includes eligible staff, as defined in the Staff Performance Management Guidelines [pdf], and their supervisors. This process is supported by university leadership and the Office of Human Resources. For any questions regarding eligibility, please reach out to your HR business partner.
How do I manage my goals outside of the annual process?
- Log in to .
- Click your Profile in the top right.
- Click View Profile.
- Click the Performance tab.
- Click the Goals tab.
- From the Goals tab use the Edit Goal, Create Goal and Archive or Unarchive Goals buttons to make any changes.
How do I unarchive (restore) a goal?

- Click your Profile in the top right.
- Click View Profile.
- Click the Performance tab.
- Click the Goals tab.
- Click Archive or Unarchive Goals.
- From the Archived section, select the goals you would like to unarchive.
- Click OK.
How do I manage my employee’s goals outside of the annual process?
To manage existing goals for your employee:
- Log in to .
- In the Search, type your employee’s name and click the result.
- In the People search results, click your employee’s name.
- In the Employee Summary screen, click the Performance tab.
- Click the Goals tab.
- From the Goals tab use the Edit Goal, Create Goal and Archive or Unarchive Goals buttons to make any changes.
To approve, send back or deny goals added by your employee:
- Log in to .
- From My Tasks, click the Manage Goals task for your employee.
- From the task, use the Approve, Send Back or Deny functionality as needed.
How do I cascade goals to my team?
For new or existing goals:
- Log in to .
- In the Search, find the Add Goal to Employees task and click the result.
- In the Add Goal to Employees screen, select Create New Goal or Copy Existing Goal.
- In the Assign To section, click the Employees dropdown and select My Team then use the checkboxes to select your employees.
- Alternatively, use the Organizations dropdown to quickly select your org. You can use the Include Subordinate Organizations checkbox to include all orgs that roll up to the top-level organization.
- Click OK.
How do I add Performance to my Top Apps in Workday?
- Log in to .
- Click the Global Navigation menu and find the Performance app.
- If it is not already in the menu, click Add Apps and add it.
- Click Edit and then click and drag the Performance app to one of the top four positions in the list.
- Click Back to Menu then refresh your browser to see the Performance app in your Top Apps.
How do I view my previous performance reviews?
- Log in to .
- Click your Profile in the top right.
- Click View Profile.
- Click the Performance tab.
- Find the Performance Review you would like to view, then click View or Create PDF.
How do I view my employee's job description?
To view an employee’s job description, type “Generate Job Description” in the search field in Workday. You can then export it to a PDF or Excel file to review.
